The Houston Texans made their debut in the 2002 AFC-NFC Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio. The Houston Texans quickly made a mark by downing their cross-state rivals the Dallas Cowboys, 19-10 at the Reliant Stadium. The Houston Texans were the first expansion team to win their opening game since 1961. Since then, the Houston Texans have continued to make waves. Popularly known as the Texans, the Houston Texans owe their existence to the tenacity of their owner and Chairman Bob McNair, who, after turning his back on the National Hockey League, set his sights on bringing football back to Texas. The Houston Texans were founded to replace the Houston Oilers, who moved to Tennessee in 1997.
