The New York Jets were founded from 2 different teams, the Titans and the Jets. The Titans, despite their victories, were very unpopular and declared bankrupt. The Titans team name was replaced with The New York Jets and Weeb Ewbank was appointed head coach. In 1964, the team also relocated to the newly built Shea Stadium from the old fashioned, unsuitable Polo Grounds. A staggering 45,665 fans turned out to show their support for the new team. The New York Jets then moved in 1984 to the Meadowlands stadium, New Jersey where they have continued to sellout every game. The newly established coach developed a new program for the team and The New York Jets snared the AFL East title in 1968, and even beat The Colts in Super Bowl III.
