Sacramento Kings
The Sacramento Kings began playing in the NBL in 1945 and were based in the city of Rochester, New York City. The Sacramento Kings were originally known as the Rochester Royals. The Royals then relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio in the pursuit of a larger market. Ohio was the chosen location due to its strong college basketball fan base. The Rochester Royals (the Sacramento kings to-be) changed their name to the kings because Kansas City already had the Royals baseball team. The team divided its home games between Kansas City and Omah until 1975 when they decided to abandon the Omah market. During this time the team was called the Kansas City-Omaha Kings. The Kings then moved to their current home of Sacramento, California in 1985 to become The Sacramento kings.
