Minnesota Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves are based in Minneapolis. The Minnesota Timberwolves were one of 4 new expansion teams granted by the NBA in 1989. The Minnesota Timberwolves were the first team to be based in the Twin Cities since 1968, when the Minnesota Muskies moved to Florida. They were named the Minnesota Timberwolves after a ‘name that team contest’, because Minnesota has the largest population of Timberwolves in the lower 48 states. The Minnesota Timberwolves were a hit with fans straight away, over the 89 -90 season their home stadium the Metrodome drew over 1 million fans, an NBA record. But the history of the Minnesota Timberwolves has been a turbulent one, but they managed to rise to glory in 2004 by winning the Division title.
