The New York Yankees have been competing in professional baseball since they were founded as a team in 1901. They began in Baltimore in Maryland and were originally named the Baltimore Orioles. They then moved to New York City in 1903 and changed their team name to the New York Highlanders, they finally became known as the New York Yankees in 1913. The New York Yankees home stadium is one of the most famous ballparks in all sports history and is called the Yankee Stadium. The New York Yankees have an impressive title record boasting 26 World Series championships and 40 American League Pennants. The New York Yankees even have their own television channel called the YES network, which began in 2002.
